Fire Update

As of June 22, 2009, 10:00 am

The Tyaughton Fire started at Pearson's Pond on the 29th May due to human activity.

The evacuation order was lifted on June 14, 2009. As of June 22nd the fire is now 100% contained. The BC Forest Service will have crews in the area as the mop-up operation is expected to continue through the summer.

There is minimal visual impact in the area around Tyaughton Lake and Tyax Resort and all areas east of Pearson Pond including Spruce Lake and Warner Lakes remain unaffected. The air quality is perfect with no smoke in the air. There is evidence of the fire for approx. 4 km from the Highway 40 turn-off to Tyaughton Lake Rd and some burn areas can be seen from Highway 40 from Marshall Lake to Tyaughton Lake Rd. turn-off.

All roads are now open and dust control is in place on the Hurley Forest Service Rd. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at 250-238-2221 or visit www.bcwildfire.ca.

We look forward to a great summer season here at Tyax Resort.

Sincerely,

Robin James
