Fishing

Tyax Resort is situated on Tyaughton Lake, which means “lake of jumping fish” in the native language and it still retains  a reputation for 3/4 of a pound to 2 pound rainbow trout. Other species in nearby lakes and streams include Bull Trout, Kokanee and Eastern Brook Trout. Most fish weigh between 3/4 and 3 pounds but 5-pound Rainbows, 7-pound Eastern Brook Trout and 18 pound Bull Trout have also been landed.

Fishing for children is easy too, rainbow trout from 8-12 inches can be caught right off the Resort’s dock. Bring your catch back to the lodge and our chef can treat you to a fresh caught dinner.

Most of our waters are ideal for fly-casting, in addition to spin fishing and trolling. If you have never fished before why not try a fly-casting lesson and give it a go.
