From Vancouver

A. Hurley River Summer Gravel Road over Gold Bridge

From Vancouver to Tyax Resort - 250kms (155 miles)

From Vancouver take Highway 1 to Horseshoe Bay then Highway 99 to Whistler. 35 kms after Whistler at the traffic lights with the Petro-Canada gas station turn left on Portage Road into the village of Pemberton (gas up here). At the roundabout take the 2nd exit towards Pemberton village. After crossing the railroad tracks the road forms a "T-junction" with a stop sign - turn right onto Prospect Street signposted to Pemberton Meadows and Hurley FSR. Follow this road around to the left where it turns into Pemberton Meadows Road.

After 23 kms (14.4 miles) you will see signs for Bralorne and Gold Bridge to the right, turn right at the junction. After 9 km, you will cross over a bridge and the road forks, you will see a sign pointing right to "Hurley River & Gold Bridge", take this road uphill to the right (the road to the left takes you to Meager Hot Springs).

This logging road starts out to be steep with switchbacks but flattens out on top and continues for 60kms. It then goes downhill into the Bridge River Valley. You will see a sign to the right that says Bralorne, but follow the road straight on towards Gold Bridge. After 60kms (35 miles) on this gravel road you enter a road that is seal coated (paved). Turn right. You are now on Highway 40.

After 200 yards (1/4 km) you see Gold Bridge on the right but stay straight on Hwy. 40 and after 8 km (5 miles)along the side of Carpenter Lake you see the Tyax Resort sign. Turn left onto Tyaughton Lake Road and after another 8 kms you will see the entrance sign to Tyax Resort on the right.

Total driving time: 4 hours.

WARNING: The Hurley River Road is not a highway but a Forest Service Road. Please check with either the Highways department (ph: 1-900-451-4997) or online at www.for.gov.bc.ca or call Tyax Resort to make sure the road is open.

B. Carpenter Lake Road (Road #40)

From Vancouver: 342 kms.

Total driving time: 5 hrs.

Drive from Pemberton to Lillooet over the Duffy Lake Road ( Highway 99 ). Drive through Lillooet and turn left before the A&W to get on to the Carpenter Lake Road ( Hwy. 40 ) towards Gold Bridge. When you get gas in Lillooet ask them to direct you. Follow Carpenter Lake Road for 92km until you see the Tyax billboard. Follow that road for 8 km into Tyax Resort.

WARNING: The Carpenter Lake Road is a maintained Highway and School bus route but you must be cautious of sharp corners and rocks on the road. Drive with caution & care.To check on the status of Hwy (Road) 40 check www.drivebc.ca drivebc.ca

C. Fraser Canyon

From Vancouver: 421 kms.

Total driving time: 5 1/2 hrs.

From Vancouver, follow the Trans Canada Highway ( #1 ) through Chilliwack and continue through to Hope and then into Lytton. In Lytton take Highway 12B to Lillooet. From Lillooet take the Carpenter Lake Road to Gold Bridge for 92km until you see the Tyax billboard.

From Seattle

Total driving time: 7 hrs.

Take the I-5 north to Bellingham and exit on Meridian Road. Follow signs to the Sumas border crossing. In Abbottsford, get on the Trans Canada Highway (#1) and continue through Chilliwack to Hope and on to Lytton. In Lytton, take Highway 12B to Lillooet. From Lillooet, take the Carpenter Lake Road (Highway 40) for 56 miles towards Gold Bridge until you see the Tyax billboard.

From 100 Mile House

From 100 Mile House: 280 kms.

Total Driving time: 4 hours.

Drive South of Highway 97 for 102 km. Do not turn off in Clinton. 11 kms before Cache Creek turn right at the Lillooet sign. From Lillooet see Route B.

From Clearwater

From Clearwater: 350 kms.

Total driving time: 5 hours.

Drive South on Highway 5 to Kamloops, turn onto Highway #1 to Cache Creek. Take Highway 97 for 11 kms and turn left to Lillooet. From Lillooet see Route B.
