Trail Description
|
Spruce Lake
|
This trail is best appreciated with the benefit of a floatplane drop from
Tyax Resort that flies you into Spruce Lake - located on the alpine's edge at an elevation of 1,580m.
From Spruce Lake, you ride more than 25 kms of rolling singletrack along
the Gun Creek Trail through the most spectacular meadows of wildflowers
and ever-changing landscapes all the way back to Tyax
Resort.
Alternatively you can make this a ride in and
ride out day starting from the end of Gun Creek Road and riding over

Tyax Resort, and flies you into Warner Lake , located in the
alpine at 1,850m. From Warner Lake, you will ride for more than 40 kms of
rolling single-track along the Gun Creek Trail past Trigger, Hummingbird
and Spruce Lakes. The trail is mostly buffed and narrow with some technical and exposed sections and some short sharp climbs as you drop to creek crossings and climb out again. Keep following the main Gun Creek until you meet Gun Creek Road. Pedal out of Gun Creek Road and turn left onto Tyaughton Lake Road back for the climb back up to Tyax Wilderness Resort.

Taylor Basin- Camels
Pass
|
Hop on our scheduled van shuttle to the
Taylor trailhead and start to climb from 1300m on a gentle gradient
up a deactivated logging road for 10km to an elevation of 2000m
at Taylor cabin-an old miners cabin. Turning left onto singletrack you'll
hike over Camels Pass and start a sweet flowy singletrack descent to the
High Trail. Follow this to the left along the High Trail to
rejoin a logging trail where you turn right and down towards Tyaughton Lake road. Look for the left turn onto the doubletrack of the Friburg trail signposted to Tyax for the most fun route back to the resort.

Hop on our scheduled van shuttle to the
Taylor trailhead and start to climb from 1300m on a gentle gradient
up a deactivated logging road for 12km to an elevation of 2100m at
Eldorado mountain passing an old miners cabin en route. Turning onto the High Trail you'll
start a sweet flowy singletrack descent- the sort you dream of.
There's more climbing though as you take in the alpine scenery and climb
to Eldorado cabin to join the Lick Creek trail. This technical twisty
rooty singletrack descends for around 40 mins+ to leave a huge grin on your face. Turn left at the logging road and pedal back to the Friburg trail (and blue Tyax signposts) back to the resort.

North Cinnabar to
Mowsons
|
Ride
some of the best local singletrack located near Tyax Resort. The route
starts with a van shuttle to the trailhead, a short climb followed by a
4km gently switchbacking descent before becoming more rolling with a few short climbs
to spectacular views over the Bridge River Valley, then descending down
to Mowsons pond. Leave a pickup vehicle here or ride back up
to the resort. This area boasts some of the best wildflowers in B.C., so
have your cameras ready.

Take
your bike
on a floatplane ride from Tyax Resort to Lorna Lake and start a huge hike
a bike over Lorna Pass. Doesn't sound attractive? Don't worry it'll be
worth it. Catch your breath
with the awesome 360 degree views that open up then wind along
the flowy singletrack to the base of Deer Pass. It's another steep climb with
some hiking sections to reach the top and an awesome descent to
the Gun Creek Trail skirting Trigger and Hummingbird lakes as you
enjoy the flowy singletrack all the way back to Tyax Resort. Believe
me you'll need that dip in the lake and a beer on the
deck after this ride!
