Your journey to Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing is part of the adventure. Located near Gold Bridge, BC the resort is readily accessible by ground or air, yet remote enough to ensure a genuine wilderness experience.

Special Note: If you use Google Maps for directions, please be advised that they believe you should be taking the Highline Route, via Birken and Seton Portage.  While you CAN take this road, it is recommended you use our directions below.  The Highline is known as being a VERY adventurous route, and we do not recommend.

If you are driving, please note:

  • Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing does not have control of the status of road conditions. We recommend always checking DriveBC.ca before driving to Tyax and plan your trip accordingly.
  • Please be prepared to drive on long gravel roads with the appropriate vehicle and spare tire.  Some routes may require a 4-wheel vehicle. See more details below.
  • Rental vehicles may not be covered by insurance for the roads that lead to Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing.
  • There is NO fuel available at the Lodge. The closest commercial gas stations are in Lillooet and Pemberton. Self-serve fuel is available in Gold Bridge. Ensure you have plenty of fuel available during your trip.
By Ground

From Vancouver

Via Whistler & Lillooet

  1. Drive North on Highway 99 towards Whistler.
  2. Drive past Whistler to Pemberton.
  3. Continue on Highway 99 (Duffy Lake Road) to Lillooet.
  4. Drive into Lillooet turning right on Main Street and left at Moha Road (just past Subway).
  5. Follow Highway 40 (Carpenter Lake Road*) towards Gold Bridge until you see the sign for Tyax (will take 1.5-2 hours).
  6. Go right up the hill (do not go to Gold Bridge) and follow Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometres into Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing.

WARNING: The Carpenter Lake Road is a maintained Provincial Highway but there are unpaved and narrow sections; please be cautious of sharp corners and rocks on the road. Drive with caution & care. To check on the status of Hwy 40 check drivebc.ca.

Via Pemberton/Hurley Rd.

NOTE: This route has restricted usage or private roads. We recommend that you only take this route if you have a 4-wheel-drive vehicle with good multi-ply tires.

  1. Drive North on Highway 99 towards Whistler.
  2. Drive past Whistler to Pemberton.
  3. Turn left into Pemberton, through the roundabout and continue on Portage Road to Pemberton Meadows Road.
  4. Turn left to stay on Pemberton Meadows Road.
  5. Follow Pemberton Meadows Road for 21 km.
  6. Turn right on Lillooet Forest Service Road and continue 8.6 km (blue and yellow sign is on the right side, indicating where to turn).
  7. Turn right on to Hurley River Forest Service Road for 45.3 km.
  8. When you are up and over, you’ll come to the end of the dirt road.  Turn left onto the paved hwy. which is Gun Lake Road S. and then  onto Carpenter Lake Road for 11.5 km.
  9. Turn left onto Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometres into Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing.  Large Tyax sign will be on your left.

WARNING: The Hurley River Forest Service Road is a Wilderness Forest Service road that is only accessible during the summer months. Travel is only recommended with a 4WD vehicle. Please note: Rental vehicles may not be covered by insurance on this road.

From Kamloops

Via Lillooet

  1. Take the Trans Canada Highway West (#1) towards Cache Creek.
  2. In Cache Creek, take a sharp right onto Cariboo Hwy (Hwy 97N) towards Lillooet.
  3. Turn left onto Hwy 99S at the junction where Hat Creek Ranch is, and drive through Marble Canyon.
  4. Turn right at the signs for Lillooet and drive over the Fraser River Bridge.
  5. Turn right onto Seton Lake Road towards Lillooet.
  6. Drive into Lillooet turning right on Main Street and left at Moha Road (just past Subway).
  7. Follow Highway 40 (Carpenter Lake Road) towards Gold Bridge (approx 1.5-2 hours) until you see the sign for Tyax.
  8. Go right up the hill (do not go to Gold Bridge) and follow Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometres into Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing.
