Getting to Tyax Lodge

Located in the heart of the Southern Chilcotin Range near Gold Bridge, BC,  Tyax Lodge is readily accessible by ground or air, yet remote enough to ensure a genuine wilderness experience.
The journey to the lodge is part of the adventure, and depending on the season, your options for getting here vary. Please refer to the information below or get in touch for the latest travel conditions.

Driving from the Lower Mainland via Pemberton 

  1. Drive North on Highway 99 towards Whistler.
  2. Drive through Whistler to Pemberton.
  3. Continue on Highway 99 (Duffy Lake Road) to Lillooet.
  4. Drive into Lillooet turning right on Main Street and left at Moha Road (just past Subway).
  5. Follow Road 40 (Carpenter Lake Road) towards Gold Bridge until you see a fork-off to Tyaughton Lake Road (will take 1.5-2 hours).
  6. Go right up the hill (do not go to Gold Bridge) and follow Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometres into Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing.

Driving from Kamloops via Lillooet

  1. Take the Trans Canada Highway West (#1) towards Cache Creek.
  2. In Cache Creek, take a sharp right onto Cariboo Hwy (Hwy 97N) towards Lillooet.
  3. Turn left onto Hwy 99S at the junction where Hat Creek Ranch is, and drive through Marble Canyon.
  4. Turn right at the signs for Lillooet and drive over the Fraser River Bridge.
  5. Turn right onto Seton Lake Road towards Lillooet.
  6. Drive into Lillooet turning right on Main Street and left at Moha Road (just past Subway).
  7. Follow Road 40 (Carpenter Lake Road) towards Gold Bridge until you see a fork-off to Tyaughton Lake Road (will take 1.5-2 hours).
  8. Go right up the hill (do not go to Gold Bridge) and follow Tyaughton Lake Road for 8 kilometres into Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing.

Please Note:

  • Carpenter Lake Road is a maintained Provincial Highway but there are unpaved and narrow sections; please be cautious of sharp corners and rocks on the road. Drive with caution & care. To check on the status of Hwy 40 check drivebc.ca.
  • We recommend always checking DriveBC.ca before driving to Tyax and planning your trip accordingly. Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing does not have control of the status of road conditions.
  • Please be prepared to drive on long gravel roads with the appropriate vehicle and spare tire.  Some routes may require a 4-wheel vehicle. See more details below.
  • Rental vehicles may not be covered by insurance for the roads that lead to Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing.
  • There is NO fuel available at the Lodge. The closest commercial gas stations are in Lillooet and Pemberton. Self-serve fuel is available in Gold Bridge. Ensure you have plenty of fuel available during your trip.

Transfers

Return helicopter transfers from Pemberton Airport (45mins north of Whistler) are included on all Tyax Heliskiing packages. Depending on package type and date, guests will either be transferred directly to the lodge from Vancouver, or will be taken to Pemberton via ground transfer before a short helicopter flight to Tyax Lodge.

Here are transfer details based on package type:

Unlimited Single Group Package and Unlimited Private Small Group Package - Ground transfers from Vancouver (airport or downtown hotel) to Pemberton (3hr), then a scenic helicopter flight to Tyax Lodge (22 minutes).

Unlimited Platinum Package - Amazing helicopter flight from Vancouver Airport to Tyax Lodge (60 minutes).

ARRIVAL DAY

09:00 - Pick-up at Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

09:30 - Pick-up downtown Vancouver

12:00 - Pick-up Whistler

13:00 - Arrive in Pemberton, enjoy a light lunch then enjoy a picturesque heli-transfer to Tyax Lodge

15:00 - Orientation, Safety Meeting & Training

19:00 - Dinner


SKI DAYS

06:30 - Stretch Class

07:00 - Breakfast

08:30 - Helicopter Lift-Off...and because we ski with just 1 group per helicopter, you will head out straight away, no waiting for other groups.

16:30 - Return to the lodge and enjoy Après ski!

19:00 - Dinner

DEPARTURE DAY

06:30 - Stretch Class

07:00 - Breakfast

08:30 - Helicopter Lift-Off

12:00 - Return to the lodge

13:00 - Heli transfer departs for Pemberton

14:00 - Ground transfer departs for Whistler, downtown Vancouver and Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

All times are approximate, except for stretch class and meals. Schedules may vary, dependent on weather and logistics. All helicopter transfers are weather permitting.

We strongly suggest staying in Vancouver or Whistler the night prior to your departure, and would be happy to book those reservations for you with our partner hotels.
