LESS WAITING, MORE SKIING.
A single group of 9 is much better than 2-3 smaller groups using 1 helicopter
The trend for heli skiing operations is to offer skiing in small groups with multiple groups sharing a single helicopter, which we believe, impacts the quality of the ski program. We're bucking the trend because we know there are many more advantages to having just a single group using the helicopter rather than cycling through multiple small groups.
We don't think Single Group Heliskiing is better ...... we know it is. And here's why.
Top 9 Reasons Single Group Heliskiing is Better:
- No Waiting For Other Groups - At the start of the ski day, you get to head out into the mountains immediately, as there aren't any other groups using your helicopter. If you are in Group 3 at a multi-group operation, you need to wait at least 30 minutes for the heli to make 4 trips before getting picked up.
- Less Chaos & More Peace - With a single group format, there's no frantic rush to load the helicopter with blades spinning in order for it to get to another group. Instead, you'll find yourself with a precious moment to exchange high-fives with your buddies, relish in the awesomeness of your recent run, soak in the stunning scenery, and give your legs the chance to recover. Rest assured, you'll still rack up a ton of vertical, and the unhurried pace will only enhance your overall experience.
- Earlier Start + Later Finish = More hours of skiing - At Tyax, we get you out skiing much quicker than most other operations. You will typically load the helicopter at 8:30am or very shortly thereafter......and finish the ski day around 4:00pm. Not only do we offer a longer ski day, but thanks to our 1-group-per-helicopter format, you get on snow quicker at the start of the day and get to finish later in the day as we do not need to shuttle any other groups. A longer ski day, and no waiting for other groups, means you get to ski a ton. And since your package includes Unlimited Vertical, you won't have to pay more to ski more!
- More Exploration - Joining us at Tyax will give you access to a whopping 830,000 acres of terrain, providing an abundance of terrain options for you to explore and enjoy.
In order to move from one zone to another, it takes just a single flight with our Single Group format. At operations that operate with 3 groups per machine, it takes the heli 5 trips to move all groups to the new terrain. That is a big waste of fuel and ski time.
- Increased Safety - We ski in a group of 4-9 guests, supported by 2 guides. This is fantastic for safety reasons as if there is an issue above the lead guide, the tail guide can help out.
- Two Guides / Split Group - We take grouping people of similar ability seriously. If there is a split in the group, it may be possible to ski 2 different lines as you will have 2 guides. At operations that ski in multiple small groups, that is not possible as there is only 1 guide per group.
- Tired? Sit Out A Run! Feeling tired, or tweaked your knee? No problem at Tyax. Since we ski with just 1 group using the helicopter, you are welcome to skip a run or 2 and sit in the heli. You can't do that if sharing the heli with multiple groups.
- Explore Deeper Into the Mountains - Thanks to a bigger helicopter and less people it is servicing, our Bell 212 and 214s can take on more fuel enabling us to explore deeper into the mountains on a single tank. This also means less time waiting for the heli to refuel.
- Better For Dealing With Inclement Weather - Gain more time to ski in variable weather with a single group. Rather than trying to manage shuttling 2 to 4 groups back to the lodge due to changing mountain weather, our single group format means it is easier for our guides to manage inclement weather more efficiently, allowing guests to ski longer before the storm moves in.
Single Group Heliskiing means more flexibility, resulting in more skiing and less waiting for you.
