Guide Update

January 18, 2026 5:49 pm

Alex Wigley, our Heli Skiing Operations Manager, recently shared an update on conditions across our nearly one-million-acre ski area:

"Tyax has recently completed a few days of pre-season set up for the season, preparing over 90 landings on our runs before guests arrive.  We flew through our entire tenure, assessing conditions, and gaining a strong picture of our snowpack.  We currently have over 350cm of base in our Western tenure and 250-300cm in our Eastern tenure, which is above average for this time of year.  The past few days have been warm, making for soft ankle deep ski runs on South facing slopes in the afternoons.  On Northern aspects, the snow quality is firm and fast to ski, with the best quality dry carvable snow in the Northern Tenure (specifically the Granite & Arrowhead zones).

Currently, we have no snow in our 7 day forecast, however cool temperatures, snowpack, and weather conditions will transform the snowpack into soft "faceted" grains that make for hero skiing."

Don't forget: at Tyax Heliskiing, we operate with a one-group-per-helicopter format, which means no waiting on other groups, no rushing, and more skiing. It’s a relaxed, exclusive, and is a truly unforgettable experience.
